  • CM (Communication Multipurpose):

    CM-rated cables are designed for general-purpose communication use within buildings.

  • CMR (Communication Multipurpose Riser):

    CMR-rated cables are designed for vertical runs (risers) within buildings.

    They have enhanced fire resistance compared to CM cables and are suitable for installation in vertical shafts and riser spaces.

    CMR cables are often used for networking, audiovisual, and security systems where cables need to pass between floors.

  • CMP (Communication Multipurpose Plenum):

    CMP-rated cables are designed for use in plenum spaces, which are air-handling spaces typically found above drop ceilings and below raised floors.

    Plenum spaces require cables with low smoke and flame propagation characteristics to minimize the spread of fire and smoke in case of a fire.

    CMP cables have the highest level of fire resistance among the common ratings and are suitable for installation in areas with strict fire safety requirements.

  • CMX (Communication Multipurpose Outside):

    CMX-rated cables are designed for outdoor use.

    They have UV-resistant jackets and are built to withstand exposure to sunlight, moisture, and other environmental factors.

    CMX cables are commonly used for outdoor networking, such as running Ethernet or coaxial cables for outdoor surveillance cameras or Wi-Fi access points.
